My Story
I grew up in a poorer area of Sydney’s western suburbs where I lived with my parents and three older siblings until my late teens.
As soon as I had enough money saved, the first thing I did was move out. I spent the next few years of my life renting and budgeting every cent I earned and working long hours and two jobs to make ends meet and reading everything I could find about metaphysics. By the time I turned 20 I knew this was not how I wanted to spend the rest of my life, so I started getting involved in real estate, went to seminars (generally free ones) and read as many books as I possibly could on the subjects of investing and running businesses. It was around this time I fell into event management. At 24 I purchased my first property with my husband (then boyfriend) with absolutely no money and we got married 7 months later. I was fortunate enough to get a small redundancy from the company I was working for which just paid for the wedding! As the years went by my husband and I acquired 4 properties which we renovated, some to keep, some to sell. We also started share trading and attended more seminars and reading more books. Everything was going fabulously. I fell pregnant with our first child and started Evolution Events as a side
business from my full time employment. After having our beautiful baby boy, Jackson, I went back to work part-time and continued to do additional work through Evolution Events.
The day finally came when it was time to give up my job. My last day was 5th February, it’s amazing that I never forget the date, five days later my husband had an accident at work and couldn’t return to his industry, ever! After spinal surgery it took him nearly 6 weeks before he could walk again. Around this time I discovered I was pregnant with our second child. Unfortunately due to all the stress and drama at the time I lost it at approximately 14 weeks. It broke my heart, but it also made me realise that the most important things in life can’t be measured with dollars and cents or by profit & loss statements. This is around the time I came back to metaphysics. A short time later I fell pregnant again with another beautiful baby boy, Harrison (Harry), they are my light and my inspiration.
It took over 3 years after my husband’s accident for him to start earning an income again. We were fortunate that we had been reasonably financially stable as we closed down his business and gradually sold off everything we owned to support our lives during that time.
I have always been a very spiritual person and believe that there is always a lesson to learn. The most important lessons I received from this experience is life is short, things change quickly and you can never be completely prepared for them so enjoy what you have & what you do now and that is the path to true happiness and inner joy as happiness truly does come from within and not from the material items we acquire. That’s what makes the sun shine and your heart beat. It’s that feeling when your baby smiles at you for the first time or the way you feel on your wedding day.
My husband, the boys and I are all happy and healthy now and making our way back to where we started although this time we are definitely doing things differently. We are putting much more time into the things we love to do and if it doesn’t feel good – we don’t do it.
I ask myself the question every couple of weeks, if I died today, would I be happy with the way I have lived my life? Am I spending enough time doing the things that are important to me and with the people that are important to me? These days the answer is nearly always yes, this is how I know I am truly living my passion and purpose.
